I don't know myself, but I need to remove my steering wheel as well. Hoping somebody will respond to your post so we both can figure it out. I have a '67 F100.
Also you need to take the large nut of the steering shaft (you will see it as soon as you take off the hor button and horn stuff) then you can use a puller by installing a bolt in each of the holes on the metal plate at the center of your steering wheel. With a puller it should come off with no trouble at all. As well I believe that the nut is either 7/8 or 15/16 i am not sure.

Don't know the steps to remove one but I do have a helpful tip: When you go to pull it out of the column, make sure to tie a piece os strong cord to the connector at the bottom of the column. Then when you remove the assembly it will pull the cord up through the column. This is necessary so you can thread the new wires back down the column. It would be a long afternoon otherwise.
I unscrew the TS arm, remove the retaining screws, cut the wires and yank out the old switch. Having done all that work I do not reuse old TS switches. I also install a new horn brush and use plenty of dielectric grease. Make a good wiring diagram on the connector and mark the steering wheel to shaft alignment. Double check the neutral start/back up light switch actuating finger before you tighten every thing up. Take a close look at the spring pin that retains the shift lever to the shift collar. This hole wears out and the collar cracks there. Now is a good time to replace this part as well. Actually it is easier to yank the column, replace the lower bearing and rag joint, column to fire wall boot, lube the bottom end with lithium grease, (where brake fluid leaks and screws up the bearing), line up and lube the back up light/neutral start switch, install everything and then put the column back in the truck. Easy 4 hours, and buy all,the parts in advance. Then forget about steering/TS/Horn/sloppy steering/shifting problems for about 20 years or so. Solve the problem once, solve it for a long time.
