I'm am getting ready to purchase a 1968 F100 Custom Cab Wimbeldon White with a 360 2V and a C6 tranny. It has 70,000 original miles and just had the tranny rebuilt. The paint looks showroom with very few exceptions. The body is completely straight and everything works. The truck was garaged the majority of it's life and I would be the fourth local owner. Purchase price is $4000 firm. Does this sound like a good purchase. It does to me considering what is out there today, but I am always looking for a second opinion. Thanks.
Sounds like a great value if it really is as pristine as you indicate. A similar 1968 Ford truck just sold on Ebay for $4,000+. I got a value quote on my truck from an insurance company that specializes on classics at over $6,000.
That is about twice what I would want to pay unless you don't expect to do anything to it for a long while but drive it.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
I say "buy the best truck you can afford and drive hell out of it". I believe it is less expensive in the long haul, to pay more and have a running start on dependable classic transportation. I think you got a deal.

Unless you really like reworking everything, I think you've got a pretty good deal. My truck was only $300, but had 270,000 miles on it. It needs everything. And I usually really enjoy working on it. BUT, yesterday I was working under the truck fixing cracks in the frame and I had grinding sparks getting under my goggles and welding sparks finding their way through my shirt. At that time I was thinking that maybe I should have spent a little more up front for something in better shape.
