Brake Master Cyl

I'm installing a reman master cyl for my 72 F250 (front drum, pwr brake), however the fittings on the new m/c would require me to reverse the lines. The current setup had the large reservoir line running to the front brakes. The size of the fittings on the new m/c will only work if I switch them and have the large reservoir feed the rear brakes.

Does it matter which reservoir? I assume there must be a difference since one is twice the size ofthe other.

Thanks,
Bob

Yes, it does matter what lines go where. Have the parts store double check to be sure they gave you the right cylinder. If they did, you'll need some adapters, available at the parts store.

Brake Master Cyl

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Jan-03 AT 11:29 AM (EST)]If you attach the large reservoir to the rear your rear wheels will lock up with just a tap of the pedal. Someone else on here had this problem, rear wheels locking up, and swapping the rears to the small one vice the large one is what fixed it.

If you need adapters, NAPA sells them:

When I added power brakes I had the same problem. I simply cut the flare ends off the lines, swapped the nuts and double flared the lines. Screwed them in and the brakes work great!
