I've been looking at various lift kits for my f250. Mostly I've been considering the leveling kits, which seem to just address the front of the truck. Some kits use springs or it looks to me like an add a leaf and some kits offer up to 3-3.5" by changing the mounting of the existing springs in the front but say nothing about the rear??? I would like for the truck to have a little more clearance, I'm currently running 285 BFGs, however I might would consider larger tires in the future(on stock 16" rim). The truck is sometimes used for towing so I don't want to get too radical. Any advice, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
my dad ran 35's (or 315's) on his 02 F250 with just a leveling kit up front. he did scrub a lil on the front but that was due to the stock wheels. he could have gotten wheel with different offset and have been fine, but scrubbing is not a big deal, it just gets old.
if you're like me and wanna keep it low to the ground so you can actually use the truck for what it was designed for (IE hauling) then 35's would fit the bill. dad used his to pull our 25' enclosed trailer with no problems and if he had the hitch he could have hauled my g/n with no problems. loading the bed was still just as easy as before, it was just a few inches higher than stock.
if you want that do NOT get a lift.... once you get a lift then you will want to get the bigger tires to fill the wheel wells. i did not want that. thats why i'm running 35's on stock susopension on my 96 F350.
for leveling kits...my favorite on the superduty is the front hanger shackle setup....it just drops the hanger and uses a longer shackle up front...this keeps the stock springs and the stock ride up front....if you want to bring the back up...get a set of f350 u bolts and 4" blocks from ford or used from someone..that will bring u up 2" in the back if you want
