Just won an auction for a 1960 f-100 identical to the one I currently own except this one is mint compared to what I currently have to work with. Price was a mere $200. Only problem is that it is in Texas, and I'm in Minnesota. Oh well. Anybody up for an 2200 mile road trip? Pics are in my gallery. Wish me luck.
Yup, I have been looking forever for a decent step side big back window. I currently have one, and I dont think it has a salvagable panel on it anywhere. I have both the front and back windows, and the vent glass. Just need to get door glass for it. I also have a good 223 w/ 3 on the tree to go in it. I will be picking it up in late May. I can't wait. I figured I just saved myself about 2 years of panel patching, and probably a couple grand in parts.
I was wondering where you get most of your parts for your 60 i have just recived one exactly like the one you just bought and need to find a place to get parts for mine i also live in minnesota
I almost bid on that one too. I have a friend in El Paso with parents here in Rockford, IL. I probably could have gotten him to trailer it up here for me for gas money. But....there's a kid on the way and I already have two trucks I'm working on. Good luck with it.
Crazy, where are you located? Did you buy the yellow 60 from Wisconsin on e-bay? I missed that auction, and told the guy I would take it if the winner backed out. I think this one will work perfect as I have all the parts this one is missing in good condition (engine, tranny, badges, guages, front and rear windows, etc.). Every single piece of steel on my truck resembles swiss cheese. About parts, I figured this is my best option for getting body parts since I can only find patch panels, or outragously priced used ones. I will eventually have a bunch of marginal spare body parts off my current truck that you are more than welcome to check out if you need them. Hopefully we are close enough to help each other out. I'll post more when I get it home the end of May. As you can tell my current truck is so crappy that I am ashamed to even post pics of it.
Upay is the term lots of us use for ebay... because more often than not you're going to have to pay out for any part because the seller thinks its gold plated or something.
I would recommend hiring a truck broker to haul the truck to you. I bought a truck out of Texas, I'm in Florida. It would have cost me $1100 to go get it myself but it only cost $645 to have it shipped. There are places online where you can get quotes from 15-20 different firms at once. I would recommend B&E out of Dallas, they were the cheapest I found. Good people too. You said its in Texas right?
I would probably not have bought the truck if I would have to make a special trip to pick it up. It just so happens that I have many in-laws in the OK, TX area. My sister in-law is getting married in Tulsa on the weekend of May 20th and we were planning to drive down anyway. So long story short is I will be driving my 2500 HD down and taking an extra day to go put it on a u-haul trailer and bring it home with me. Should'nt cost me but an extra $300 for gas and trailer.
