I have a new ford factory remanufactured 460. It has a holley 750, eldebrock intake and l&l headers. Does anyone know a good carburator setup for this motor. It was running really rich with the 70 jets that came with the carb. so my mechanic took them out and put 67s in it. Now the motor is not running rich but I lost a lot of power especially when i pull my camper. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Which Holley? I expect a List 3310? A change of three jet sizes is not enough to go from really rich to lean enough to cause poor power. Has anything else been adjusted or changed? More info on how it runs would help.
I,m not exactly sure but it has an electric choke so i think it is a 80508s or 80783c. Every since we put smaller jets in it the truck jerks when i change gears where it use to be smooth. I pulled my new camper home with it the other day and it just did'nt feel like it had the power that it should. I took off at a red light pulling the camper and kinda got on the gas alittle hard and all the sudden it was like the motor just ran slat out of power and i had to get off the gas and start over. I was'nt on the gas that hard.Is the problem between the seat and steering wheel?
Check the spark plugs. See what color they are. If white, then it is too lean and you need to go back up on the jets. 72's should be about right on the 460. It sounds like it's running too lean to me.
