I found a Wimbledon White 1966 Camper Special today with a 352, 4 spd, and relativly clean, but does have some rust, and is a bit rough around the edges. The windshield is also smashed and needs a new one. Engine seems to run smooth. Can you guys believe it, my 16 year old sone wants to sell his '95 Explorer to get it. I have a '68 F250 Camper Special, so the boy is making me proud. Any thoughts on what a reasonable price may be for this truck. The guy is asking $3600, but I think theres too much rust for that kind of money. This will make a good truck for him to learn the basics on mechanicals....and to use a four speed!!
Well my old bro spent $5500 a few years back on a mint 66CS with no rust on the outside body panels but it needed detailing to be show winner it also has the "factory camper" with it!! Funny we go to the chevy show and they all walk out to the parking lot to drool...
We pulled the motor detailer the under hood and frame and it's mint. so that not a bad price as there not easy to find.
One too many zeros in that price.
Lonbeds aren't worth as much as short beds.
F250s aren't worth as much as F100s.
While I don't like when people low-ball the value of these trucks on the message boards because they are living in the past, that truck sounds REALLY expensive. I bought my LB F100 about 3-4 years ago with decent paint and very little rust for $2600, drove it home 10 hours, and have done only minor maintenance to it since. You're talking about a restoration candidate the minute you buy it. While my truck was a deal, even at $1000 more you can definately find a better truck to start with than what you are describing.
Keep in mind that if it's registration is expired you gotta pay for all of that too.
I think $3600 is too high. In Northern California a blue and white 66F250 camper special sold for $2500. This truck just had the body removed and the frame cleaned up. New disc brakes and a/c installed. The body needed painting, but the body work itself was done.
I couldn't see any rust on it anywhere. Interior was gorgeous. Needed new rubber but the guy who bought it had a set he wanted to use.
If I had the money (and the guy who bought it wasn't a good friend) I would've bought it myself.
Yer right there zombie WAY TOO much for an old truck. These guys that want big dough for old trucks because they are old do not care for the truck only money. BOOOOOOO
