You won't need a different crossmember but you will need the transmission support beam or whatever it is called. You will have to move it back towards the differential and drill new holes. Not a big deal. Drive shaft will need to be cut as well since the distance will be shorter from tranny to differential.
Since you have shifter on the column (I am assuming) you will need a non-power steering steering column that has a column shifter or you can stay with what you got and install a floor shifter. I did both the C6 conversion and the power steering conversion at the same time and used the donor column which was auto on the column. Just my 2 cents

What does this support bar look like does it go under the trans or from the block to the trans and does it need to be from a 65 or from a truck with the same FT/ C6 setup? Is the c6 the only auto tranny that will fit behind these FT motors?
Sorry for all ths ?'s Im a Mopar guy trying to help out my Ford dad...So thanks for the help...

It supports the tailshaft of the tranny, where the tranny support mount is attached. Same setup will work. Mine came off a 73 and worked with my 65, except I did have to drill the holes to bolt it to the frame. A good drill and some oil to keep from burning the bits and there you go.
