1988 F-150 302 Shake/No Power

My 1988 F-150 has a 302 efi and an automatic. I parked it a few months ago and just started it last weekend. It didn't run very smooth at idle and once it hit about 2500 rpm's it started running really rough. We changed the plugs, wires, rotor and cap tonight, set the timing at 11 btdc with the connector removed and it is still running rough. It accelerates terrible and won't go much more than 53 mph! It doesn't even have enough power to accelerate in overdrive. Any ideas?

try the module on the side of the distributor, or the throttle positioning sensor.

It seems like it is not timed correctly, but I set it exactly at 11 btdc with the spout connector removed. I tried driving it without the spout connector installed and it still acts the same, I also double checked that the timing advances to the mid 30's when at 2500 rpm's, so I'm fairly confident the computer is functioning. Would the TPS make the truck feel like that? What is the module on the side of the distributor?

First, pull the codes. What's your fuel pressure? It could be a weak fuel pump, too.

How long has it been sitting? It almost sounds like you have water in the gas.

I rented a computer from Checker which is supposed to pull the codes, it says vehicle is not responding, I tried it with the engine running, engine off key to run, key to acc, key to off, all came back the same. Connections were good too. I also tried the manual way of reading the codes and I couldn't even get the check engine light to flash. Is my ECU messed up?

Is there anyway to check the operation of the ecu if it is not sending codes?

Check the harmonic balancer. The outer ring may have moved

Mine kind of did the same thing but with a '90 460. It was my fuel injectors that were bad on mine. Cleaned em up for temporay use and the shaking/horrible acceleration went back to normal. Now I just have to get new high flow fuel injectors.

Well I got the problem fixed. It was a combination of the fan clutch being frozen, the eec relay being fried, and the computer needing replacment. Runs great now!
