Hey everyone, you probably don't recognize my name. That is because I am usually in the Ranger/B-Series Forum. I have been thinking about buying my uncles ’85 F-150. The only problem is that it has been sitting since 1988, when he stopped driving. Mileage is under 8,000 original! It is black with red interior and loaded.
The truck has been in a garage since 1988, and not moved or started since about 1992. No one has attempted to start it since then. I looked it over today, and the fuel tanks reek of stale gas. I am guessing the whole fuel system is gummed up. What do you guys recommend I do about the fuel system? It is EFI and I am not too familiar with the effects of stale fuel on EFI. The tanks are going to have to be replaced, what about the lines and injectors?
Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to make this truck roadworthy again? It has been stored inside since it was new, and don’t worry, I won’t drive it too much if I get it. This truck still has the paper Ford floor mats and plastic seat covers!
