I just purchased a 2000 F250 SD PSD... with 6 spd transmission. The clutch seems stiffer than the other F250's that I've driven. It seems to require more pressure to push the pedal down.
Can I make any modifications to make the clutch easier to press? Is this pressure controlled by a spring that I can replace?
Replace clutch with a LUK clutch system. Some factory pressure plates are very stiff and cause bushings in the clutch pedal assembly to ware and give a stiff pedal.
We have installed LUk clutches for lots of customers and they give a lite pedal. After installing some customers think it's not working because the pedal is so lite. They hold up very well I've had one in my wrecker for 2 years with no problems. It sure is easier on my left leg after a long day.
So the problem with needing the press hard on the pedal is in the clutch assembly and not just a pedal spring? I'll look into the LUK clutch system. Thank you.
