Yesterday, I posted a question about Flowmaster Series 40 Delta Flow, single in, dual out. I think my post got lost in cyber space. Anywho, I have an '05 F-150 with a 5.4 L engine. Has anyone had experience with this system. The shop is using aluminized steel piping with stainless tips. What is the stock piping made of, and is stainless really worth the money. I got seven years on the stock piping on my last truck (a '97 F-150). There was no visible deterioration and I think it would have lasted alot longer had my truck not lost the battle with a utility pole.
I believe that most vehicles since the mid 90's get some form of stainless steel piping on their exhaust systems. Notice most muffler shops, if they are still in business, do other things now to make money cuz it's not on replacing mufflers and tailpipes that have rotted away. However, I would highly recommend the higher quality stainless steel in the aftermarket systems. I have a 94 Bronco with a Borla system on it. The rest of the vehicle is getting rusty but the Borla still looks new. Put a Borla on my 05 F150 too. Awesome!! Just a few thoughts for you.
Flowmaster robs power on the 5.4 28v at least thats what ive read and saw the dyno sheet from ****** performance
screw say it ain't so! I've got a 40 series flowmaster with SI/Do and it didn't seem to hurt the power any could you possibly post that dyno sheet I would be very intrested in seeing this
I will see if i can find it......... I had a F/M 40 on my 04 XLT Screw and after reading this last year i went and got a AeroTurbine Exhaust and was real pleased more power and much nicer rich sound
I ve also got the A/T on my 04 Lariat Screw

I would highly recommend stainless steel. The reason that your last exhaust lasted a good long time is probably because it was SS. This is especially true if you live near the ocean or mountains. Salt is steel's worst enemy. Stainless will not rust; aluminized will.
Problem is, most muffler shops only offer aluminzed steel because stainless steel to too hard work with (bend, etc). The only SS piping I've found is with complete aftermarket cat-back systems. I went with the Gibson Swept Side si/so. Very nice... Easy to install, no mods necessary.
