A couple of years ago the Pittsburgh Pirates invited outfielder Derek Bell to spring training. Shortly after arriving in camp, Bell announced that he would go into "operation shutdown" if he wasn't given the starting job in centerfield. Pittsburgh released him the next day!
Also, there's Rafael Palmeiro's famous"I've never used steroids, period" quote. Obviously, that was a lie!

How about last year when Dale Earnhardt Jr won the 2nd Daytona race. The interviewer asked him what it meant to him to win at the track where his father lost his life. Dales comment was, "Well, it dont mean *****. Daddy done won 10 races here."
