Can someone recommend a company that has the fiberglass bedcovers? I'd like to get a set of fenderflares, but don't like the factory price. Are there some good affordable aftermarket fenderflares to be found?
I went with the roll top from Retrax. If looks good, is easy to open and close and is well made. It does rob about 12 " from the bed itself but I really like mine. I've seen the hinged tops, but they really don't look practical for the occasional hauling I do.
After a lot of looking and doing comparisons, I wound up with the ARE LSII. From my perspective it is the best built unit I could find. The paint matches perfectly.
It looks great! ARE was offering $100 instant rebate at my local truck perfomance shop, with tax and installation I paid $852. Much better deal than any web prices. Even though the intial web price were a little cheaper ( not much), after adding the $150 to $180 delivery charge I came out over $150 ahead with installation.
Looks like the $100 rebate is still in effect! http://www.4are.com/
I would go with the ARE LSII top for your truck. They look great on the F-150. Weight of them is about 100-120lbs, me and my wife can take mine on and off with to much trouble. Paint match is great. I live in the north west, cost here was right at 900 installed. Took about two weeks to get in at my local dealer. They have a newer model out for the f-150 looks at lot better than the LSII but the price was like 1150 dollars. To me the LSII was the better one for the price. Has carpet on the underside of it, comes with two keys for the lock, they even included some touch up paint. This is my second top I have had, the first one I had was on a GMC, Lived in Oklahoma, did not stand up very well in hail storms, took a real beating.
I agree with the ARE being a great choice. They are well built and you can't go wrong. I had one on my Ford Ranger and never had a problem. This past April I purchased a 05 F150 Lariat and decided on the Leer lid, I just liked the look better, and felt it was in the same class as the ARE. The price was around the same, it was just a matter of personal choice. Like the link below my truck is black.
ARE is a great product. I had one on my 97 F150. This year, the paint started to bubble. My dealer sent it back to be repainted. Instead of repainting, they sent me a brand new model. Much nicer than my original.Carpet lined and with the new mounting rails. They build a great cover.
