Driving home last night from work the freeway was real heavy. Finally worked my way up and I saw why everyone was slowing down. There was a guy driving a 4 runner using a bumper pull attached to a car which had a bumper pull attached to it pulling another car. (that's right pulling two cars) They all looked like they just came from auction cause parts were missing or damaged. I didn't know if I should laugh or get in the farthest lane away.
Got past after shaking my head and came up along the same set up again with slightly different cars all being bumper pulled. I passed 4 different set-ups all pulling two cars. The 5th and thankfully the last was a VW Golf pulling some taurus or something. Obviously they were all together but why would you want to be attempting something like that during rush hour traffic on the freeway! I don't know if was legal or not but sure didn't look like it would be and some of those would have a hard time stopping the load behind them.
I know you can haul 2 trailers, IF the first is a 5thwheel or Goosneck and the 2nd is either attached with a dolly or a bumper pull.
I know in the fall we can pull 2 tobacco scaffolds with 1 truck, but that's for farmers, i don't think those guys were farmers cause they would of been using something better than a 4 Runner to pull with, and probally would of had some sort of a trailer.
Mostlikely just a bunch of rednecks that just bought some new yard ornaments, and a dog house.
I would have called the state police and then a news channel
The scariest thing I have seen is buyers from Mexico buy five tandem axle tractors. Then piggy back one on the back of the other with a crane and do that until there are three to four piggybacked to the first one by some clamp they put through the fifth wheel and clamp to the piggy backed tractor's frame.
I sort of doubt the brakes on the first tractor is up to stopping that 18+ tons by itself, not to mention the turning radius of probably a mile
I live about 60 miles from the Peterbilt factory, i see them piggy backing them too the dealers all the time, but it is usually 2 on the back, and the first one is always the biggest truck. 18 tons is only 36K and these trucks are usually GVW'd at 50K plust.
Couldn't tell for sure how he managed to mount the boat to a bike. He actually passed us on the freeway when my uncle and I were getting off. It looked like it was a fat boy with some sort of hitch attached off the rear. I know it has enough power to pull it but I have no clue how he was going to stop it. It was a long time ago that I saw that one.
Well, they do make hitches for goldwings so i'm sure they make them for harleys as well but we all know there are alot of retarded people in the world. I saw a Samuri pulling a 25-30' 5th wheel the other day, lets see you stop that more then once. I think I'll start carrying a camera from now on, just to get pics of these kinds of things. You should see what shows up in the wal mart parking lots. I just wanna know how to go about mounting a 5thwheel hitch in a Suzuki.
I could be wrong, but, just because the frame, suspension, and axle are rated for higher then that, it does not mean the brakes are rated to stop that load.
Thw worse thing I have seen is a Taurus pulling a Chris Craft (maybe 20+ feet). Walked in saying he was on vacation with his whole family and the car was overheating and could someone look at the car. Hard not to laugh when you see it towing that load.
I thought the GVW is the max weight allowed on the truck? Meaning that the brakes are rated for the GVW not the GCW and that is why they habe trailer brakes
I would have called the state police and then a news channel
What are you - NUTS? Call the news channel first!! (Then call state police) Do you WANT to deprive the rest of us from seeing total stupidity in action??
