F-350 Towing with a 351w

I am looking at buying an F-350 Crew cab 4x4 with a 351w. It has the E4OD and 4.10 gears with posi rear. I will be using it to tow my 78 F150 mudder most of the time and that will be about the heaviest load I will do. My question is will this be a decent truck to do this with or should I keep looking for something with a 460 or 7.3 Powerstroke. I will only be using this truck as my tow vehicle with occasional regular driving. Any thoughts or feedback is greatly appreciated.

It'll get the job done, especially if you are towing in the mostly flatlands of the Midwest. Id run it and not think twice, especially if the price is right. The 7.3 would be nice, but not really justifiable if you dont tow all that much. With 4.10s the truck should do just fine.

If you found ANY Ford 4x4 crew cab I would say it is a good find. I think the 351W will do okay, if you are lacking starting line torque on hills, an upgrade to 4.56 gears will be fairly simple because you already have 4.10s.I would keep stock size tires on the truck unless it was simply to go wider on the rear tires.
