Has anyone tried to fix their org. 6V horn?? My horn would barely make a squeek so I knew it could work, probably dirty. So I took it apart and cleaned the points & the heavy metal clapper(?) that seems to vibrate onto another heavy base rivited to the housing. I guess my sketch wasn't detailed enuf with all the insulators & what not 'cuz it took many trys to get it to even make a buzz again. When it did seem to work, I put the two pcs of the housing back on. For the heck of it, I tried it one last time before putting it back on but it was quiet again---nothing. Does it just need to be grounded to the frame( way to simple!!) Any suggestions or a diagram would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks~JH
Original Ford's had POSITIVE (+) ground, meaning that the positive from the battery went to the ground side of the frame and the NEGATIVE (-) went to the horn. Make sure that the 6 volt battery is fully charged and you are using a least a 10 guage stranded wire to carry the current. Some horns had a small adjustment screw to vary the pitch of the horn, you may want to give that a little adjustment too.
