Red face Help with VIN

I've read SO MANY posts of this type - you probably get tired of seeing any headline such as this. I will say I've done several google searches as well as having read several VIN posts on here... but I can't seem to get it figured out.

The ONLY number I can find on my old truck is 1589523. It's stamped a few inches forward of the front cab mount.

I see a lot of others folks posting their VIN that have letters in there too. I thought maybe I was reading the stamp wrong, but the title has the exact listing too.

According to the title, it's a 47. The truck came with a flathead v8. It has duals and at one time had a dump bed on it, although I don't know if that was after market or what.

Can ya help me with anything more?

Thanks for your time!

Brian

No, that doesn't tell a whole lot. If that's all the title says, it could be a replacement title number that was stamped on the frame later.

Thanks for your reply.

I dug the title out again... the only other bit of information on there that might be useful: under the section "MODEL NO." it says 79.

What does that mean?

Thanks again!

Model 79 is the designation for 1947 V8

Next would be the designation for rating (V8) 9Y for a one ton, etc.

String it together, the entire vin would read 799Y 123456 for a V8 powered one ton truck.
