My 46 truck has the flathead six - I cannot find the right fuel pump anywhere...so far I've got two and they are both the wrong ones...they say they are for 41-48 or whatever, but they are obviously wrong..it must be different for the six cylinder. Does anyone know where I can get the right one?
Ed, check with Mac's Antique Auto Parts. They carry a lot of stuff for early cars/trucks with 6 cylinders. Also you might try Joblot Automotive. I'm not sure which engine you have, but I think the pn you want is 7HA-9350
First you'll need to find what engine you have. The '46 had what's called a G series, they used this up to very late '47, then they switched to the H series engine. The H was commonly swapped in place of the G. Every 6 cylinder I have ever bought has had the H swapped in. The main diffs are the H uses a modern style distributor mounted on the driver's side of the block, the G used the old flat style distrib. The G series engine used the 1GA-9350 pump, and the H series used the 7HA pump. The pumps are specific to the 6 cylinders, they will not interchange with the 8 cylinder pump.
Firstly I have the G series engine in my truck. I actually just found out that C&G ford parts has the 1GA-9350 fuel pump in stock, but the technician there told me that that pump will not fit the one ton truck - which my truck is, so he is sending me a rebuild kit for the pump I have.
