Used 88 truck with problems.

I bought a 88 F150 with dual tanks a few months ago. the fuel gauge reads over full on the rear and seams to be normal from what i can tell on the front tank. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this problem may be? Is it the sending unit or is there another problem area i am overlooking? I plan on replacing both front and rear sending unit and fuel pumps when i return from Iraq just to wash my hands of future prblems with them.

It probably is just that the sensor is old, and starting to have increased resistance.

Where would the sensor be located at? I know in the tank there is supposed to be the fuel pump and sending unit which are connected as a single unit. I plan on jacking the bed up and replacing both pumps and sending units within a few months of me coming home from the desert.

KEEP THE IDEAS FLOWING
