The body is off the frame and i want to start the engine. Rebuilt 6 cyl original engine and 6volt pos. ground as original. I have the frame finished and engine installed complete rebuild on the frame. Which post on the battery should i connect the wire temperaly just to start it
pete
Connect the ignition feed wire to the negative battery post if it's a positive ground system as you mentioned.
I knew I'd have my engine done for a long time before I was ready to install the cab, so I got a $7 universal ignition switch from Auto Zone and mounted it in one of the holes in the frame. I got a new starter solenoid too since I was going to need it anyway. A few small wires for the ignition circuit, some new battery cables I was going to need anyway, and I have a sound, working start/ignition switch. Might be something to consider if you will be a while getting your cab finished. There are some pictures at the Earl's World link in my signature block below.
