Hi All,

The AC stopped working in our 97 explorer (this is not a blend door issue). We noticed the Explorer makes a "sniffing" sound when we start the engine and let it idle. Sounds like the compressor may be trying to compress fluid but it is leaking??? It kinda goes "sniff, sniff, sniff" as it idles. Anyways, bottom line is it doesn't blow cold air anymore. Heater is fine.

Can someone point me in the right direction here? i.e. what failed? How much at the stealership to fix? Any clues?

I had the accumulator go on my 97' last year and it was doing the same thing. It ended up costing just under $400.
Works great now!!
