Got a 37 P/U in January. She is all original and authentic. Spent the last few months getting new tires/tubes, getting lights working, freeing up front brakes (still can't get rear hubs off). She starts first push, every time, but after she drives for 1/2 hour, the oil pressure drops below 20, keeps dropping, then she has no torque. She will still idle, but won't pull if I let the clutch out. I have changed the oil 4 times in the past month, thinking that maybe the screen was clogged or the pump junked up. Each time I change the oil, it is water thin. Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed.
I'd do a couple of things...verify timing is good and advance is working. Then look into the carb, seems like you're putting in too much gas...maybe a pinhole in the floats or the seat isn't seating, etc...what do the plugs look like? Is it "making oil"?
I have a 46 Ford truck. It is common for the oil pressure in a flat head to drop as it warms up. I had trouble with the "Power valve" (accelerator pump) in the base of the carb. It allowed gas to leak out of the bowl and into the crankcase and get into the oil. The Ford flat head was also well known for the block cracking between the two center cylinders. They wont take too much over heating.
