I parted out a 47 Ford farm truck and I am wondering if the hood and grille are the same size as that of the pickups. I know that the wheel well is much larger on the fender but not sure about the rest of the metal.
Thanks
Mike
I took a look awhile back at two jailbar larger trucks...probably about 1.5ton trucks (dual rear wheels and a long flatbed). I measured the hood the best I could as well as the grille...both appeared to be too big as compared to my 1/2ton '42.
'46 may know better, but by my measurements the hood, fenders, grille and grille panel were larger.
Hoods are the same, pn 21C-16612, covering all models except COE, grille is the same, pn 21C-8204, covering all models, this the grille panel, the bars are the same for all models as well. The fenders are the only different part, the half tons use pn 21C-16005/6 and the 1 tons and up use 21T-16005/6. The inner fenders panels are the same for all models as well.
I wonder if the old boy still has the ones I looked at, I'd like to double check'em....you may have me kicking myself if I mismeasured things...I could have dragged them home for near nothing.
These are the part numbers and applications from the Ford parts book, the big main one. Some of this also come from personal experience in dealing with all the '46-'47 Ford trucks I have owned over the years. I can also double check a set of '43 1.5 ton Military fenders I have here.
Oh, I don't doubt what you're saying, I'm only a novice to the '42-'47 Fords. I just gotta get back out to see if they are still there...he had the cab/fenders/hood/grille of one truck sitting on the flatbed of the other, he either told me $200 for each or $200 for both. I shold have just bought the darn things and been done with it. At least I'd have had my glovebox lid by now
That's what I have always thought but never have stepped up to prove it before and I am surprised that the inner fenders are the same..........why..... I don't know as I did know that the larger the truck and tire size, the larger the wheel well opening and no, I don't have a spare glove box door. Sorry.
Mike
Gary is correct. I used the cab, inner fenders, front grill, and running boards from a big truck on my 1/2 ton. No problems. The running boards of course are shorties. Fenders fit also but as stated they have larger wheel openings.
picked up to heavy trucks awhile ago and as people have said all the same except the fenders - which apart from the opening appear to be wider as well (but would have to check) - can be used but appear to give the truck a more squat look (makes the cab almost appear chopped)
Years ago I bought two NOS 46 fenders for my 1/2ton pick-up. I had them on for quite awhile before I realized one fender was "different". Yes one of them was for the "big truck", as stated the ONLY difference is the wheel cut-out. The bigger cut-out makes the fender "appear" to be larger.

I have several spare 42-47 Ford trucks i'm only trying to get two put together and have a total of five now. Glove box lids are in extra supply
Howdy
Howdy, do you have the brake pushrod clevis, with one threaded end for the coupler and the other end with a 3/8 inch eye? If so I could use one, and the 3/8 inch pin that goes into the eye. E-mail me with the amount to send, or send private message. Thanks, Mike
