Allright, I posted this in the axle forum, but am in a bit of a bind so I'm tossing it out here, too.
9" differential gears:
I know you can ID the ratio by looking at the stamping on the side of the ring gear. However, it's been over a year since I've handled a set, so I have a question. Is the ratio stamped directly into the ring gear, or is it like dana axles where they stamp in the number of teeth on the ring gear and on the pinion and you have to figure it out for yourself? If it is like dana axles, what combo am I looking for for 4.11's?
I really need a set and know a guy with ALOT of third members hanging around, I don't want to make him go through every set counting teeth and running division, so it'd be nice if i could tell him exactly what stamping I'm looking for. Or if I just go, so i know what i'm looking for.
Most of them I have seen have the number of teeth stamped into them like 41-10 which I think is the most common although there is probably other combo's of teeth that will be pretty close
