H2O in T 18

Well, I towed home the '70 donor truck friday after work.Screwed in an oil pressure guage.....fully warmed up.....sweet 35# at slow idle, over 50 when revved up!Now I need an adapter for my compression guage.NO smoke either.Heres the latest dilema. The 4 spd has been sitting in the bed for 8 years on it's side.No 90 wt. poured out, only clean, clear rainwater. No rust color at all.Took off top and it looks great(other than being all wet).On it's side, dont think the 2 qts of water reached the bearings.I have drained lots of rear ends and gearboxes where water AND 90 wt. came out, mostly old tractors and I just drive on. Will I perhaps get away with just fillin her up with gear lube and running it,or do you have horror stories?Have to say it's amazing how well the residual 90 wt. coated and protected the innards........opinions? GB

Just pulled apart a a forklift transmission, out poured about a cup of water and gearoil...

Pulled the cover and things looked good, pulled it apart and the bearings out anyways and they were pretty pitted.

Now would be the best time to rebuild whats needed anyways, huh?

Guess I knew that all along. Was hoping someone was going to chime in and say"only 2 qts? I poured 2 gallons out of mine, flushed it with marvel mystery oil and ran her for 15 years".I will look into a kit on monday.Rebuilt a few crashboxes when I was running flatheads, but never seen a synchro......
