i have a 99 ranger w/ 59k miles and i used a fuel system cleaner in the gas tank then filled it up i now hear engine ping is it because the mixture is to rich? do i need to run the tank out or could it be something compleatly different?

 

You need to run the tank out. The fuel system cleaner is probably a distillate of some sort that will knock down the octane just enough to cause to ping. I would run it to near empty to ensure that you get a very dilluted concentaration on the next tank. And be sure to fill up when you do this.
