E40D Transmission Problems

I need some help. One of my cooling lines broke and I lost my transmission fluid. I had to get towed because I could not move up a hill due to the fluid loss. I fixed the leak and changed the tranny fluid and filter. Didn't see any excess signs of damage in the pan or on the magnet. My truck is a 1990 5.0 Liter 4WD with E40D auto transmission. When I put the fluid back and changed gears it seemed to not pump the fluid from the pan into the tranny as the fluid level was high on the dipstick. I can not move in reverse or any gear. Any suggestions would be helpfull as I can not afford an expensive transmission overhaul at this time.

drop the pan again and make sure all the 0 rings in the filter pickup tube are there and the filter is seated propperly. Sounds like a suction problem because of a gap in the filter pickup tube or bad or missing 0 ring..

Buzzer is correct. Check it and make sure you didn't miss an o-ring on replacement.
Good luck, Tex

I checked the o ring and everything is there. The filter is tight.

did you check to make sure the old O ring was out before installing new filter? the new filter can go in normal and seem tight with the old O ring still in there but the new filter will not seal properly.
