Ring and Pinion replace help

Ok, I am going to replace the ring and pinion in my truck in sig. I am thoroughly confused now. It's an 8.8 and d44. I have 3.55 gears and I want to upgrade to 4.11's Now, do I have to replace the carriers? What is high vs low pinion, and reverse cut gears... How do I tell what I'll need to do this? Is there anything else I should know? Thanks for the help, Dave

If you do a search in the clutch, axle forum, you will find a bunch of stuff on doing gears. To find out what you have, I would suggest calling places like randy's ring and pinion, drivetrain direct, etc. It should be a standard 8.8 and reverse 44. The 44 will need a new carrier. Like I said before, you may want to talk to someone to get the info you need. Also, depending on your mechanical ablities and tools, you may want to pay someone to install them. Something to consider in your total cost. If you do them yourself wrong and ruin them, then you are out the cost twice. Good luck, Ted
