recently purches an 01 gt convt. the player seams to have a mind of its own. the cd player will work fine and for some reason it will hang up and not swap disc. it seams like the problem its going to disc 1. i quite using disc one but it still has a tendecy to hang up. i took it apart once, but did not really see anything wrong , reassembled the unit and it still acts the same. when i hit the right bump in the road unit works fine. i am looking for a cheap player so that i can tear it down with out mercy so that i can repair and share info on the fix. any ideas. from what i'm seeing these players tend to give problems.
Might try and see if its just junk getting on something and making it catch, or making something slip. Dont use water use rubbing alcohol, because it wont make it rust, and it dries quickly. Good luck.
it was clean and dry when i took the player apart. what i will probaly wind up doing is going to walmart a see if the have the pig tail and remove all the covers and watch this operate. just looking for any advice/input
thnxs.
Hey Pony Car! I kinda of the same problem with my expedition cd changer. It is very likely that your laser is out of it's adjustment. I can't guarantee, but that might be the problem. Also maybe the lense is dirty. In that case you can buy a player cleaner cd (with a little brush on it) that will dust the lense off. If this doesn't work, I assume the laser has to be adjusted new. If you still have guarantee on it that's good. If not maybe try ebay, some people offer toreadjust the laser for around 80 $. Best max
I think it's a common prob. There's a guy on eBay who'll repair it w/warranty for $99. I bought an '03 Expedition radio that the seller alleged would not change discs at all, must've been jarred around in shipping because when it arrived here, I plugged it up and it works perfectly.
