Thumbs down Is it all Uphill at the 10 year point???

I seem to be having a long line of problems now at the 10 year point and 132000 miles. Do the problems stop and the reliability come back or does it just get worse????

It has been brake lines, fuel lines, clutch master cylinder, alternator, all in the last 2 years. What is next and can I fix it before it is broke??

Where's Quadzilla for some input when you need it... Maybe it is time to sell the truck. Anyone in the market for a really clean 1995 PSD? Lots of work recently done...

If you read the thread I started in this forum, "vacuum pump replaced today," you will see all of the parts I've had to replace this year. I look at it this way, all the parts I've replaced this year have a lifetime warranty. If I sold my truck now (173K miles) then I would not receive any of the benefit of these parts. It's your call, but I'd hold onto the truck. It's a lot cheaper than buying a new truck and dealing with all the issues associated with the 6.0 PSD.

its never ending, either parts you need or mods you dont need but "need". Just think of all the people that would be out of work if vehicles were built to last forever with out breaking

Most parts that you buy from an autoparts store (the reman. parts) have a lifetime warranty such as power steering pump, alternator, vacuum pump, etc. For brakes you're on your own.

The brakes didn't work unless the RPM were high enough.

Having the brake master cylinder replaced on the truck as we speak. The pedal would mush down half way before starting to brake, and it still did not have a good feel to it. This is after the brake lines were all replaced last month and the clutch master cylinder and clutch pedal were just replaced days ago. Hopefully I won't have to mess with this stuff for a while now. I just hate having to get the truck towed to a dealership from the road. If yours breaks on the road do you just tow it home?

If I know what the problem is, yes. If I have no idea or don't want to mess with a certain part I have it towed to a repair shop. I've had a few issues that unfortunately required towing since I've had this truck.

Thanks man... I like to do my own work, but so often it comes down to time or the tools for the job.

I hear ya, same here. Occasionally I don't have the time or want to deal with a certian job, and if you don't have the proper tools for a job it's not worth doing yourself.

I was Christmas shopping for Mrs. Quadzilla, but I'm back now......
My '95 has 188000 miles on it, and hasn't yet started the "Death Wobble". I've put on brakes, O-rings, and a starter in the past two years. That's about it for repairs. I've thrown some other money at it in mods, but nothing that was actually necessary. I think a lot of the external engine parts have a finite life span, and sometimes, several of them go belly up at the same time.
You're probably just working through a hard time. If you sell it now, you'll hate yourself later, when you hear that the new owner has had a bejillion trouble free miles.

Also, how many parts could you buy for the current truck each month and have money left over as compared to the payment, taxes, registration etc. on a new $40,000 truck. There comes a time when reliability calls for the old vehicle to go, but Quadzilla said it right. I like to buy those vehicles someone else sold after they spent a bunch of money making right and then wanted a new one. I have ended up with sevral low cost basically trouble free vehicles that way.

All excellent points. I will give it some more time and hope that the choice is right.
