Questions about my new 250
- How do they do on the emmisions tests (I'm in the Phoenix, AZ area?
- How much should the truck weigh? (new, stock, F250, 4x4, SWB, power everything, chrome steel wheels, 6.0 Diesel, 5-sp auto
- On the window sticker it says the GCVW is 10,500. Isn't that a little low for this type of truck? If so, it doesn't seem like I'm going to be able to tow much over 5,000 lbs. (heck I could do that with my old 1/2 ton gas).
- Are bumper towing the same as 5th wheel towing capacities?
I dunno about diesel tests. Your truck prolly weighs close to 7000 pounds. 10500 is GVW, max weight of the truck with cargo. 10500 minus 7000 equals 3500 pounds of stuff you can haul in the truck. Your GCWR should be 20,000 pounds or more. Towing, you are good for about 12000 pounds or so. Usually, fithwheel capacities are higher because of the limit placed on the standard bumper/receiver hitch.

2. My 2000 F250 Crew Cab 4X4 Short Box weighed 7200 with me in the seat. I just traded it for a similar '05 and haven't had a chance to weigh the new one. Not expecting much of a change (in the truck - I think I've gained a few since then).
3. As V10man said, You're probably looking at GVW rating on sticker, not GCVW.
4. 5th wheel towing capacities are generally higher than tag-along towing capacities. Odd that you should mention bumper towing. Are you actually using the bumper to mount a hitch ball or the factory receiver hitch. I have no info on the bumber capacities, but for '05, the weight distributing capacity of the factory hitch is 12,500 pounds and the weight carrying capacity is a paltry 5000 pounds.
