Shotgun series

Does anyone remember the Shotgun series of the Ford Ranger from the mid-80s? I remember looking at these trucks when I was a kid in Alabama but I haven't seen one on the road in 10 years or more. The trucks were 2wd with dually fender flares and wide tires on the back. There was also some kind of stripe kit, custom wheels and interior upgrades like CB radios. If anyone has one and would send me some pictures I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, if you know of any dealer literature let me know.

TIA

I have seen the Ranger GT that had fender flares and ground effects and graphics. Could that be what you are looking for?

Not a GT

The Shotgun Series was definately not a Ranger GT. I thought that it looked cool as a kid with the dually flares. It wasn't as out of proportion as it sounds.

I believe that the trucks were only released in the Southern states. I lived in southeastern Alabama near Ft. Rucker and my father and i would go car shopping every Sunday after church. Ed Shirling Ford would stock 3 or 4 of these trucks at a time. I also have heard that they were maybe sold in Texas.

It sounds like a custom from an aftermarket. Dealers will often get these "customs" from an aftermarket shop and sell them. They do a lot of vans that way.

That reminds me of these dodge rams they had at a dealer in flint, MI when i lived there. They were called "Bandit Editions" and were supposed to be some kinda Smokey and the bandit theme.....but this was like 2000 or 2001, not 1978...lol. They slapped on a big, fake hood scoop, a really cheap and junky dual exhaust system and some totally cheesy "bandit" graphics and a picture of burt reynolds on the tailgate!!!! And then had them autographed by burt renolds. And then they charged like $4k extra!! The dealership probably had like 50-60 of them at one point, and they pretty much just sat there forever. I don't know how they ever sold them. If I ever saw one driving around town, I just had to laugh.

Sorry to get off the subject, but I just can't belive that some people think things like that will sell like hotcakes.
