Hey there. I was just looking into buying an old ford farm truck and was wondering if the chassis were the same or similar to the newer frames. I have access to one from a 96 f250 that has the whole drive train intact. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh yea.... the farm truck I think is a mid 40's f150? Not really too sure.
Measure, measure, measure. You will have a bit of a job ahead of you. Many projects get abandoned because the frame swap gets to be a big pain. Depending on condition of the original frame, and what you want to use the truck for, it might be easier to update the old frame, new rear end and disc brakes are simple additions. But if you have the fabrication skills, go for it, it would make a very unique truck.

I'm putting a 40 pick up on a 99 Ranger frame. From what I can tell so far the biggest difference is the width. The 40 frame is about 12" wider at the cab mounts, will weld brackets out to meet the mounting holes, and some differences in how the frame heights at the mounts also. give it a try you may have a good time, keep us posted.
