Question Crashing a Truck......

I was in a wreck about a month ago, in which i hit a guard rail at a 45 degree angle at 60mph with right front of the truck, then the left rear corner of the truck was hit by a semi-truck, flipping the truck into the air 10-15ft high...it landed on the roof skidding about 2-300ft.....i walked away from it, thank god for seat-belts......now since ive given you the detail, today i worked on seeing if i could get the truck started..after i pulled the a/c core and removed the radiator and cut the fan shaft off the water pump i hooked a new battery to it and the lights and the door dinger started working i turned the key and it cranked over. So i hooked the MAF sensor back up{it got torn off}..well i turned the key and it started and......well purred like a kitten... ..hmmmm so thats what Ford means..by built tough ...

One thing that bothers me is that, and the point to this post is why didnt the fuel safety cut off switch work??? I thought that when you get an impact to the rear of the truck its supposed to cut the power the fuel pump, i had checked it before starting the truck {its located in the passenger side kick panel} and it did not pop the switch. this truck took two major hits ,one after another, actually three counting landing on the roof, i'm very interested in why it did not function, the air bags and seat belts did work....

if you want to see the pics check out my gallery.

*****as a side note , this accident it settled and no, i'm not looking to sue anyone***i'm just wondering why and thought maybe someone here could give some insight to this.
Thank you inadvance for any help on this

The way I was told was that the switch cut power at the point of the contact, but would soon thereafter return the power to the pump....
I'm pretty sure this is close to accurate because I saw a '96 Taurus get in the demolition derby and everytime he hit, his car would die, but then start right back up, and someone told me it was because of the fuel shutoff switch.

I agree with Fordtastic. You were fortunate to come out of that one. Reminds me of a post where some other guy in an F150 got hit head-on. His truck looked like yours. After the accident, he bought an F250 CC, and said he did so because it was obvious Jesus was riding with him, so he wanted him to have more leg room.

Well, since it still runs, it looks like you could just slap a few gallons of Bondo on it and keep driving it!
As for the fuel pump cut-off switch, that's a puzzler. All I can figure is that it must be defective, because any kind of impact should trigger it. I was showing a guy with a Sable how they work the other day and I could trigger his just by smacking the inside of the trunk panel near the switch with the palm of my hand. -TD

Fortunate to have survived that, without the seatbelts I think you would have had a major headache.
