Timing Belt Almost Out...Remove Inner Timing Belt Cover?
Hi all. I have a 94 Ranger with the 2.3 liter. 200,000 trouble free miles for the most part and I'm changing the original timing belt. Most of it went easy except I had a heck of a time getting the crankshaft bolt to bust free. Now I'm at or near the point of removing the old belt. In the Haynes manual it says Remove the outter timing belt cover, which I did. Then, a few steps down it says remove the outter timing belt cover again. I'm wondering if this is a misprint and it says to remove the inner timing belt cover? I'm not sure if this cover needs to come off to pull the belt out but it looks like it does. However, it also looks like this cover is behind the cam and other pulleys, so how do I get it off or do I just remove it partly at the bottom to wiggle the new belt on? PLEASE HELP!
