Has anybody figured out how to fix the a Stuck Blend Door for the Expeditions yet. My heater is not working and it looks like this Blend Door is the problem. Would like to do it myself if I could. Any help would be great!
There's a great thread over in Explorers and Mountaineers forum that gives pics and step by step for Explorer blend door fix. Not sure if Expy blend door is exactly the same, but should be close.
Had the same problem with my 99 expedition. Unfortunately, the link that I viewed to fix an Explorer blend door doesn't match up. I tried to get to it myself but ended up taking it to a shop. $800 later they discovered both the door and the motor were broken. Hope you have better luck.
I have a 99 and had the same problem. I did it myself and saved a bundle. It is quite a job though. You have to remove the whole center console to get access to the blend door. Once you have that removed the blend door motor is visable underneath the dash. There are four screws holding the blend door motor in, and if I can remember correctly there is one screw that is a real pain.
Once you get it off just make sure the shaft is lined up the correct way to fit in the blend door housing and put everything back toegther. The part is about $55. Have fun.
Thanks to all on this stuff, really helps allot. I'm going to give it a shot myself when I get a weekend free. Going to take a couple of days so in case I run into any problems I can deal with it.
Also does anybody know which is the best repair manual for the 99 Expedition. I think there are a few to choose from so I want the best one. And what better of place to find out that information! You guys all great. Was also thinking of taking pictures and putting together a word document together on how to fix this detailed so that anybody else who has this problem can learn from my mistakes! Pictures and all.
