im just curious, the 05 stang is absolutely awesome and im wondering if chevy is going to build a camaro to look retro in order to compete with the stang? does anybody know? im not brand loyal, the first mustang is just as awesome as the first generation camaro
I wouldn't hold my breath on Chevy for anything. The only V8 that isn't in their trucks is in their Corvette. That is sad. we have the Crown Vic, Mustang, GT 40, and I believe the new 500. Even Dodge has the Magnum for cheaper than the Corvette. Pretty soon they will probably only offer 4 cylinder cars and V6 trucks. I owned an S-10 and a Silverado before my F150 and I know they don't make good products. What is with their SSR? It is a useless hunk of metal. It dosen't have the LS1 or whatever their good engine block is now that is in the Corvette. It is a two seater with no cargo space and average performance. At least make it fast if it can't do anything else. Chevy what have you done to yourself?
naw, chevy's got v-8s in other things, dont they? i consider the GTO chevy, and chevy owns cadillac, with the northstar. i guess those arent chevy, but theyre website puts the SSR under the "cars" portion, and it has an LS2. http://www.chevrolet.com/cars/

The Camaro is retired. I agree that it would cool to see a retro 1967-68 style inspired Camaro. I hated every Camaro after the late '70's style.
Chevy just might do it all over again. What was the 1st year for Camaro-'67. So in about 3 yrs they will look things over and may change their mind. This SSR and the Holden GTO have got to be illusions. The PT Cruiser has made money, the new Mustang will make much money, but do you think the SSR or GTO will?---very little if any. The decision making process at GM continues in the wrong direction (everyone is wondering why) and I grew up in and around GM vehicles. I just bought my 1st Ford...a '04 F-150, mainly because of the style.
That new Camaro is just a concept. Not a actuality yet. Although it has been discussed they have not come to a decicion if they are going to build a new Camaro.
That concept car is suppose to debut and the 2007 Detroit auto show. Still aways away for a concept. A couple years ago, Chevy stopped making Camaro's & Firebird's. They said at that time the market was not in the right place & they will never biuld another F-Body car.
Camaro is gonna be dead for awhile longer, if they do bring it back think how serious it'll be; out of the market for some years, has to complete with the Mustang, and attract a new generation of buyers equals one bad car. Fast is fast. (But I still like Ford better though.)

Well i'm not so sure it would have so much trouble re-gaining a group of followers...heck even in the grave the Slow-Maro still have groupies callen Mustang boys out. The first Comaro didn't come out till a few years after the Mustang...and it instantly gained popularity. It'll once again be the only affordable Chevrolet rear-drive high-output V8...
Too bad we could'nt get the Aussie cars here (previously hinted at with the new Holden (pontiac) GTO.) The Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon-all aluminum V8-six speed manual trans-rear drive-winged and spoilered family cars. That's what my dream car would be. Ya Ya, I've got kids.....

A new Camaro to compete with the '05 Mustang? The General had best get a move on if he wants it out by '07 or '08! I saw in Hot Rod Magazine where you'll soon be able to buy a brand-new all-steel '69 Camaro body...said the '67-'68 Mustangs were next...and of course Carroll Shelby's building brand-new '66 427S/C's out in Vegas. Now you got a choice between old-new and new-new. The Ford GT is a corporate act of courage & confidence (a show of force, kinda like an automotive nuclear strike!), and a world-beater for the price. Ford's out in front in performance these days, no doubt. The beancounters have killed Chevy performance. I sincerely hope the Camaro gets raised from the dead, no front-drive four-banger either, competition's good for the breed.
