First the question about shocks: Which shocks has anyone purchased and how do you like them? I am interested in the Monroe Reflex, Rancho RSX and Bilsteins.
Second the answer about tires: I just put on a set of 265/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers and I must say they are a very impressive tire. Low noise and awesome curb appeal are the 2 best benefits so far (it's October so no snow yet here in KS). I think I remember another member putting these on and said they were loud. To be honest, they are no louder than the Goodyear Wrangler RTS' I replaced. I have listened to the BFG AT KO's on other trucks and they are much louder than these Nitto's (trust me I'm not knocking BFG's).
Back to the question: I am needing new shocks and am interested in the best shock for the money. I like the ride and price of the Monroe, but the Rancho and Bilsteins have more moxy. Any help is appreciated.
Answer to a question about shocks: Never under any circumstances buy Pro Comp shocks. I bought a set of ES3000's and they were so bad I felt unsafe and took them off immediately and put back on my old Monroe's.

New Bilsteins made a big difference in the ride of my 99. That and a few other suspension mods. Search under Bilsteins or shocks - lots of past discussion about most brands. Probably getting Bridgestone Deuler Revo's in time for the Jersey snows this winter. Time to retire my freeby BFG's, thanks to the Firestone recall I got new tires from Ford at 32K. Search under Nitto - I know one poster who hated his and returned them. If you like yours, good luck with them.
Yeah, the search yielded some very good results . The Rancho RSX's are on order for me ($185 for the set incl. shipping). Should have them on later this week. I also ordered an OBD-II reader this morning.
MattXXL, it still befuddles me how the Terra Grapplers were loud for you. Maybe they didn't balance them right or they didn't have the pressure high enough. You don't run these at 35psi. I run them at 50.
From the day I put Bilsteinson my 98' Expedition it was a huge difference. great shock at a great price ($64 each). Then I added the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's and it was an even nicer ride. I can vouch for both of them, especially after going from stock shocks and Goodyear Wranglers to these. This seems to be a long ongoing discussion on this forum and everyone seems to have there own strong opinions on their favorite brands. Really, is a $150 Milwaukee drill any better than a $150 Dewalt drill? We are all loyal to whatever brand we like. I just added a Rough Country Steeing Stabilizer Shock ($50) this weekend and now my truck feels alot better from the day I purchased it with all stock shocks and tires. I will probably pick up a Hellwig sway bar to complement all of these parts soon.
Help! Am I the only one with a new model Expediton that hates the rough ride? My 2000 was really smooth. The new independent suspension and coilover shocks are supposed to give a smoother ride. It handles great, but I feel every bump on the road. It absorbs nothing. I have 32psi all the way around on new Michelin Cross Terrains. It is a a 2004 XLT Sport 2WD. Any creative suggestions?
I think the aftermarket has to catch up with us! I'm sure someone is going to come out with an adjustable coil-over for the new models. I have heard very few complaints about the ride on the new model Expy, but it's good to know I'm not the only one that's willing to sacrifice a little handling for a softer ride. I must be getting old.
