If I remove the EGR valve, bolt a gasket and plate covering the holes in the aluminum EGR/carb spacer plate, place a rubber cap over the EGR port on the front of the carb and over the top port on the thermo active switch, or eliminate it, it seems that I should drop a couple of sizes in the main jets since exhaust gas will no longer enter the carb the mixture would be richer. True or not?
Concerning the choke heat tubes coming out of the passenger side exhaust manifold it seems an easy fix to the tubes coming loose would be to thread brass fittings into the holes and attach the heat tubes to them. NE opinions?
Leave the jets alone. The EGR system was set up to introduce inert gas under specific engine operating conditions. It was not used the majority of time. The amount of gas used was small. You will need to make adjustments to the distributor vacuum advance to avoid pinging. Check the EGR spacer plate for corrosion and leaks.
Check with the 360 engine forum for info on that heat tube repair.
