How to remove crown vic axles?
I am going to do a rear disc swap for my 72 Ranchero using 92 Crown Vic brakes. I am having difficulty removing the rear axles from the CV. I can pull 9" axles out no prob., but this has me stumped. I am *guessing* that something needs to be removed in the carrier. I pulled the cover. There are 4 large bolts (3/4) holding caps on each side. I removed them, but still wont come out. Does anyone know how to remove these axles? I need the backing plates. Thanks

there is a bolt (5/16 wrench ?) that holds the spyder gear shaft in place. Remove the bolt, slide the shaft out, now the axles will slide in enough to remove the "C" clip that hods them in place. With the clip removed the axles will pull out.
