Question for the brake gurus out there on a warped rotors problem I'm having. When I bought my new 03 last year the rotors were warped with only a couple hundred miles on the XLT. Ford machined them which lasted a couple of months. When I took it back they went ahead and installed new rotors. A couple of months after that Ford installed the new "low dust" brake pads and again machined the new rotors. About 6 months later the rotors warped again so Ford machined them, again. I talked to the service manager about this and that I thought there was a problem with my vehicle because I've had new rotors and machining done so many times in less than a year's time. He said this was normal for a large SUV. I'm actually thinking about checking out the Virginia Lemon Law on this problem. What are ya'lls thoughts??
newport news. small world ) The Lemon Law here, in simplified terms, states if you have your vehicle serviced 3 or more times for the same problem. well, I've had my rotors replaced twice and machined 3 times. that may qualify. I'm calling the Virginia Office of Consumer Affairs in Richmond to see what I can do. to be honest with you, I'd like to be rid of this thing and get me a Tahoe or Armada. I've had it in the shop 11 times since last May and I'm taking it back next week to have my faded body panels replaced and some other work they didn't fix the first couple of times. I'll keep you informed. thanks for the reply.
I'd pull the wheels and make sure they are re-installed with a Torque Wrench. Too mnay service shops put the wheels back on with the Impact Wrench. That leads to prematurely warped rotors.
