I did a quick and easy brake job today on my 1989 bronco, It went quick not easy!
In the process of taking the tire off I broke two wheel studs. It looks like I have to remove the brake rotor to get to them. I started to take the auto hub apart and got stuck just past the part where the big spring came flying by my head. I'm not sure were to go from there. There is a peice that looks like it is held in by a clip on both sides. I could not get it off because when one clip was pushed aside then the other would recilp itself.
Am I going in the right direction? Or Is there something Im missing?
First off go to the parts store and buy yourself some Warn Premium manual Hubs. You will be much happier with them if you don't mind getting out to lock them in. second that thing you are describing sounds like a snap ring. It is usually about a 350 degree ring that has a whole at each end. you can use snap ring pliers or a really small pair of needle nose pliers, or two leather awe's and pry them apart and it should just come off.
