Why not?? They've gone to 300hp with the 5.4. Why doesn't Ford just blow the competetion away with a big block in the 150?? Were talking about another 200lbs of engine. Then offer it with taller axle ratios to keep the EPA happy.
Big Block is kind of a joke now with these modular engines. The 6.8 is the same bore and stroke as the 5.4. The engine doesn't get bigger and beefer, it just get's longer with more jugs.. Once the V10 get's it's 3 or 4 valve head treatment it's going to be one nasty mother..
If they can/could do it.... Who would order their new 150 with a V10???
A V10 would make sense if all you're looking for is more performance. The 5.4 is more than sufficient for the hauling and towing capabilities of the F150.
I Agree Dunk, These Ford Motors Could Last A Very Long Time But They Have No Power.
I Say No Power Because If You Guys Get To Drive A Hemi Or A Vortec Then You Will Know Why.

While I agree that at least the Hemi is significantly more powerfull than the 5.4 (trust me it is, I own an 04 F-150 and have plenty of seat time in a Hemi Ram), I agree with greenroses that the V10 would be overkill for the trucks. The 5.4 may not be the most powerful, but I've never had my truck run out of power when trying to do something with it. The 5.4 is adequate for any job the F-150 needs to perform up to it's maximum factory specifications.
If only the Nissan had a nicer interior (not as cheep looking), an electric rear winder, roll down side windows in the suicide doors and a moonroof in it's supercab, the FX4 I now own may have been a Nissan... I didn't even test drive it... why... because... Because I know I would have liked the 305hp and 379lb-ft.
Don't get me wrong, I love my ford. It is my first Ford, got it on Maych 27th and I now have a little over 10000km and I love it. But... the nissan is a nice truck too.
I read it is a tad faster than the Dodge and way better on mileage than any of the other 3.
V10...in my F150?...I would have ordered that option in a heartbeat!
I enjoyed the V10 in my S/D but it would really be something in my 150. Although I like 14.2mpg better than 9mpg
