My back window has apparantly been leaking for quite sometime. I just noticed last weekend that my back seat has very large water stains so I went through a high pressure car wash and watched the back glass. Sure enough the water jetted in from the upper passenger-side corner. Anyway, I talked to the dealer today and they are going to replace the seal on the window and I asked that the seat be completely replaced (if that foam ever soaks up water it will always smell). So they say yeah to all of it but heres whats crazy: instead of just ordering a seat back and doing a simple bolt on replacement, Ford will only send them new covers and foam and they have to pull the seat and basically rebuild it with new covers and foam. What the heck is up with that???
I am suprised Ford is even replacing the seat cover. You say "if the foam ever soaks up water". Well I suppose it did or Ford would not be spending the money to replace the foam. Maybe the covers are stained. Ford shouldn't spend money to replace the seat frame, they probably don't even have "bolt on seat backs" only the parts needed to make one.
I was looking at it from a time stand point...take a couple hours to replace a bolt in assembly. They're telling me that they'll have my truck a week to fix the window and seat...crazy
It used to be that even the dealerships ordered the glass from the glass company who then responds to the dealership on thier schedule so it may sit there a couple of days waiting for the glass company to come install it. It may be different now though.
