Oh no...Transmission trouble
Got straned last night towing a small load @900lbs , after i was loaded i went to drive a way and didnt move, the RPM's raised but no foward motion. Went through the gears (automatic) Reverse worked fine but Drive 1 2 it wouldnt move. I checked the oil and it was fine with nothing abnormal. I got back in and gave it even more gas and it started to move, i didnt feel it shift but it probably did as i got up to 65mph but then i stopped at a light and nothing, it rev'd up to 4k but only had enough momentum to get off the road. The motor was running fine and there was NO check engine light (not sure if it ties into the tranny as well??)
So got it towed to a shop which was closed for the day, i live @100miles from there though so will probably try to tow it closer to home for work. Finding a car dolly that will work with the navigator is another issue.
Its a 1998 Nav 2WD, tow often, fluid/filter changed @35-40k ago. A buddy mentioned if the filter gets clogged or if the oil isnt just right that it could have similar problems??? Anyone have any info or ideas?
