yeah it's possible to use an after market sending unit.
the best way to find the sending unit and get to it is to lay under the front of the truck and look up.
If it's an aftermarket gauge then it should come with the proper hosing and hook up. just unscrew the old sending unit and screw the new connector with hose into where the old one came out. when you start the truck up check connections for leaks. The oil pressure will flow up the plastic hose up to the gauge and read pressure.
maybe i'm confused.. the new one you have..is that and aftermarket one that came with a gauge? If so it should have come with a lenght of plastic hosing. The wire that is on the old one will not be used in that case. Just unscrew the old one and screw the new stuff in.
