'90 Mazda is not getting fuel to front 2 cylinders
Have a 1990 Mazda B2600 2.6 I4.
For some reason it is not getting fuel to the front 2 cylinders.
We came to this conclusion by this. We found out it was not firing on the front 2 cylinders and replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, and distributor cap. Did not help. We put a little bit of fuel in both of the front 2 cylinders and it evened off for about 2 seconds, then went back to the way it was. Then we figurerd it was the injectors. Switched the front 2 injectors with the back 2 injectors. Was still not firing on the front 2.
We figure there is something wrong with the computer.
What do you think?
I would check for a leaking intake gasket or some other source of a vacuum leak
around the ports feeding those cylinders. When the Cavalier came out it would lose #1 cylinder for this reason. GM made up a new gasket to correct it.
Put a long screwdriver next to the fuel injector and see if you can hear it clicking (opening) to let fuel in. If it is being pulsed the cpu is ok...

The bad thing about that is that it doesn't like to run on just 2 cylinders.
Oh yeah, another thing, If you DO get it started, and rev it up a little, it evens off.
Goes back to the vacuum leak, too lean at idle starts to get a more reasonable ratio
of fuel and air above idle. Take a can of carburator cleaner and spray around the manifold feeding those two cylinders see what happens. If it starts to run alright you
have your answer.
