I have an 82' bronco w/a 300 4.9l in 1st gear it pulls great, but if i dare shift gears before i hit 3000rpm's the bronco starts to shack and it takes a long timw to start pulling again. This is the same in every other gear(4spd) after that. What can I do? Does the carb need adjusting? Im putting a new rear in. what gears should i through in there?
Start with a fuel filter and see if that takes care of the problem, if not check your fuel pressure and fuel flow, sounds like its running out of fuel.
Both of what you are saying sounds like a great place to starts, except the engine only has about 1000 miles on it. I just finsished up a rebuild on it. thats where im getting stuck at??
I'd recheck the cam timing. Also check the distributor placement. If the cam is out the compression check would pick that up. On sixes the carbs loosen from the intake occasionally but if you just overhauled it should still be tight. Good luck!!!
Everythign was replaced brand new except the carb, which i did a light overhaul on it. Im think that it might not be gettingh enough fuel...? Also if I put the 4barl on there, how wouold tha effect my fuel econ.?
