Ranger A4LD Transmission
Have 90' ranger with auto Trans, trying to save on costs, any tips will be appreciated, I am a dissabled carpenter so please, I am not very knowledgable in mechanic language. Transmission is doing several things; rolls in park, takes several miniutes to engage in reverse. Truck had set for 1 - 1 1/2 years. have changed fluid, but have not really been out on the road yet just up and down street (just a couple of blocks). Thanks, mel

The no-park problem could be a mis-adjusted cable or the catch in the tranny is damaged. How does it engage in the forward gears?

Did you change the filter and all the fluid? Just dropping the pan won't get the fluid all out. A complete fluid change takes 8-10 qts because of the torque converter. The park problem could be just an adjustment problem with the linkage or could be more serious. Try a can of "Sea-Foam" in it to see if that will help. Keep us posted.
